Aminah Abd Rahman
An active exhibitor with the Malaysian Watercolour Organisation, Aminah's preferred subject and love of her artist's eye is undoubtedly flowers.
Part of the reason why she settled on painting blooms of all kinds and species is because she feels they are a staple favourite of people regardless of nationality. To her, flowers are soothing and emanate serenity while representing femininity and motherhood in their grace and oft-overlooked resilience. But flowers are not the only element that graces her canvas; there is also the invisible but ever-present wind and the delicate mixture of watercolours that give the flowers an added fragility.
Aminah normally takes what she terms a 'situation' and composes a painting from it, at times she paints outdoors to capture it better. Typically, gardens and landscapes are her choice locations. These nature-paintings that are impressionistic in application also carry an environmental message to show the transient beauty of nature that we need to protect.
